KG Gun Kote
The 2400 Series of Gun Kote is KG Industries’ premier coating. Gun Kote is a thin hard coating specifically developed for use on military weapons to hold up under extreme adverse conditions in which soldiers operate and still meet the military machine gun firing requirements. It will not attract dirt or dust and has superior abrasion resistance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance and self lubricating properties that make it ideal for law enforcement, military, or hunting applications. With a pencil hardness of greater then 9H, Gun Kote will provide a 180-degree bend to give excellent impact resistance. It is not easily worn off like bluing, phosphate or chemically blackened surface treatments which can leave metal surfaces bare and unprotected from the elements.
Specifications requested by the military for SOCOM have been incorporated into production coatings. Gun Kote 16/2 Flat Dark Earth was specified by the U.S. Military for special weapons in 2003.
Gun Kote is formulated for lubrication using molybdenum disulfide, PTFE or Boron and durability using a proprietary Melamine or Phenol resin system.
K-Phos Pre-Treatment:
All iron or steel parts are pre-treated with K-Phos, which is an organically sealed iron phosphate coating that is highly resistant to rust and corrosion and provides an excellent bond for coating.
