Comprehensive Overhaul Program (C.O.P.)
Simmons Law Enforcement, Inc. offers a "Comprehensive Overhaul Program" (C.O.P.) to provide a service to Law Enforcement & Military Organizations as well as the individual gun owner. C.O.P. is designed to reduce departmental costs by providing quality weapons overhaul and refinishing services vs. buying new weapons. The complete weapons overhaul and refinishing delivers a quality product, new and unique finish and a 3 year warranty.
C.O.P. allows a department to transition current weapons to alternative systems at approximately half the cost of buying new. For example, a standard police Remington 870 shotgun can be affordably converted into a Tactical or Less Lethal system through this program. The weapons are also refinished with KG Gun Kote which has superior durability and resistance to chemicals, oils and solvents. It also has exceptional lubricating properties and reduces friction.
Over 100 federal, state, county, municipal, and other agencies throughout the United States have put weapons through C.O.P.

Program Summary:
- Step 1: Weapon Inspection
- Experienced gunsmiths completely disassemble and inspect the weapon.
- If excessively worn or broken parts are identified upon inspection the customer will be contacted to discuss repair or replacement options.
- Step 2: Pretreatment
- Parts are first stripped and cleaned of any oil or grease (using KG-3 Solvent Degreaser or solvent that does not leave a residue).
- After sandblasting we repeat the cleaning process to remove all residues from surface and holes that may have trapped any aluminum or blast material.
- K-Phos Pretreatment is then applied
- K-Phos is a major breakthrough in the field of corrosion protection. It was developed to provide a simple method of applying an organic sealed phosphate coating to metal.
- Highly resistant to rust and corrosion, it provides an excellent bond for Gun Kote. K-Phos offers the protection against rust and corrosion formerly available only by means of a complex system of tanks and solutions.
- Surfaces treated with K-Phos can be exposed to weather for several days until a final finish is applied without losing its protective effectiveness.
- Step 3: KG Gun Kote Application
- KG Gun Kote is applied and cured through a baking process.
- Gun Kote is a thin hard coating that will give excellent protection from abrasion.
- It is not easily worn off such as bluing, phosphate or chemically blackened surface treatments, which can leave metal surfaces, bare and unprotected from the elements.
- Gun Kote does not attract dirt or dust, has excellent impact resistance and can be formulated to be non-reflective.
- Gun Kote is formulated with molybdenum disulfide lubricating base.
- THICKNESS: Maximum = .0003 to .0004 +/- .0001.
- KG Gun Kote is applied and cured through a baking process.
- Step 4: Reassembly of Weapon
- Weapon is reassembled with new parts and/or accessories based on C.O.P package selected.
- All weapons are put through a complete function check and test fired at our facility.
- We recommend your depart armor (or designated personnel) to also conduct a complete function check and test fire the weapon before returning to service.
Please use our Weapon Refinish Order Form identifying all firearms and/or inventorying parts. We prefer that the form be submitted on-line (so we know it's coming) and also printed off and included with the firearm when shipped.

If you find that the products we sell do not meet your expectations please call us. In most situations there is a reason for the problem that can be worked out over the phone.
Add on parts and accessories such as stocks, side saddles, magazine extension tubes, optics, illumination tools, etc. are covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
