What is the PANTHER Tactical hearing Protection Headset?

The PANTHER (Professional, Amplification, Noise reduction, Tactical Headset for bionic Environmental Reproduction) is a tactical hearing protection headset equipped with electronics for reproducing ambient sound. The electronics consist of two externally mounted microphones that pick up sounds in the ambient environment. The sounds are then reproduced inside the hearing protection muffs/cups at a safe level, maxing out at 82dB. The sound is reproduced in stereo to assist in maintaining or improving an operator’s sense of direction. This feature is designed for use in tactical environments where it is desirable that ambient sounds can be heard (i.e. warning signals / conversation), while one’s hearing is concurrently protected from potentially dangerous sounds in the environment (i.e. flash bangs / gunfire).

Unlike other systems available, the PANTHER can be used as a stand alone device OR integrated with our MH180 or MH180-S Tactical Headset Systems, providing access to 3 tactical advantages, simultaneously a) Radio Communications b) Hearing Protection c) Ambient Environment Amplification.

Following month’s of our own field tests and evaluations of the various forms of tactical hearing protection on the market and interviews with both law enforcement and military tactical operators, we learned that both professions preferred the real benefits associated with “options’ flexibility” – in this case, the ability to choose when and when not to utilize hearing protection while maintaining the tactical advantages associated with radio communications. Until now, most systems available forced an operator to choose between purchasing tactical hearing protection that included built-in radio comms or some form of device truly not designed or rugged enough for tactical use.
